Here's a table at our local library.  It is twelve feet long and the top is made from three wide planks of

 maple.  It's awesome

Yesterday Liesl and I went to the Salvation Army thrift store near where we live.  I always turn to go down the furniture aisle.  I saw this beautiful dining room set.   The danish modern set is from Heywood Wakefield.  I love this stuff.  If we had the money I would've have bought it on the spot.  I went in today and it is still there. The set is from a line they produced called Cliff House.  The line ran from 1964 to 1965.  The chairs have incredible lines and even though they look small they are very comfortable.  The buffet and hutch are from the same series.  The top of the buffet is solid wood and mitered on the corners.  What a great set.

The Sketchbook Project

I'm involved in an exhibition and project for the Brooklyn Art Museum called " The Sketchbook Project"  I am really excited to be part of this incredible art project that involves the community.  Artist from across the world will submit a sketchbook filled with their own creative visions to the Brooklyn Art Museum.  Each book is bar-coded and will become part of the library's permanent collection. 
A book containing works from all of the participating artist's works will be published and sold to the public.  An exhibition of the sketchbooks will travel throughout the U.S and Canada.
The opening exhibition at the Brooklyn Art Library will take place on June 22nd 2012.
What an incredible project to bring together the art community.   What a great experience to be part of a collaborative exhibition and to get your work published in a book along side some incredible artist and their work.  I am humbled and very grateful to have this opportunity.

Lighting Inspiration

We are lucky enough to live near a Salvation Army thrift store.  We visit it everyday, stopping in for a quick roam on our way home form somewhere.  I love the clean lines and forms of all things modern and spotted this beautiful coffee percolator one day.  I've been thinking of making a couple of lamps and this percolator has inspired me.  I love how the three arms give the percolator some levity, almost lifting it off of the ground.  The dark walnut wooden arms are a beautiful contrast against the polished stainless steel.

Ceilings, nothing more than ceilings'

This isn't a great image.  I'm trying to show that the ceiling is almost there.  I don't have to put up sheathing on top of the insulation but it ties in the rest of the space nicely.  My arms are killing me'''.  The space is almost there and ready to have the rest of my equipment moved in.

Finally

Not a lot to report lately.  I finished the Cigar Box Guitars and with the arrival of some cold weather I thought I better finish putting the insulation in the rest of the ceiling.  Here it is- done'.  Now to put up the rest of the sheathing.  I'm trying to tie up loose ends this week and next so I can spend four months just working on the book and projects for the show.  The manuscript for the book is due at the end of April.
