Danish Finished
We finished shooting the latest episode of the show " The Garage" yesterday. We gave a danish modern table and chair set a face lift, bringing back to life. I re-upholstered two of the chairs. The other two are in good shape with the original vinyl on. I'll eventually cover them in the same material. I love the triangular three legged chairs. The unique feature of this set is that the crest rail of the chair nests into the table to form part of the apron, fitting nicely underneath the table. I'll be making a twin size bed for the next project of the show. I'll be posting images as we go along so keep checking back'

Cameras, Lights, Action
Today we shot an episode of the show "The Garage". This is the first time we have shot in the new space. My studio is a lot smaller than the old space so we spent a lot of time adjusting the lights and cameras but all went well.
Re-upholster redo
Yesterday I reupholstered one of the side chairs. After living with it for a day I decided to redo it. I wasn't t happy with the results. I went out last night and purchased some thinner vinyl and today we shot an episode of the show " The Garage" and I re-upholstered the chair with good results.

Side chair re-upholster
Yesterday I started to reupholster one of the side chairs from the modern table and chair set. I cleaned the chair with a mild bleach solution and then took off the old vinyl and reupholstered the seat with new vinyl. The new vinyl is a lot thicker and gave me some problems. I couldn't get it as tight as I would like but all in all it worked out well. The other chair that needs to be done and the table will be used in an episode of the show " The garage". The episode is called " Danish Face Lift". We are shooting tomorrow so I'll post more soon.

Danish Face Lift
A few weeks ago we went to the Douglas Flea Market where we saw this table and chair set. We saw this set a year ago and it was out of our price range but this time it had been marked down to $40. We don't need a table and chair set but if you know me you know I have a love of all things modern. We bought the set for $40 and the woman who owns the flea market threw in some black vinyl. She had plans to fix and re-upholster the chairs. Everything about the set is original. Two of the chairs will need to be re-upholster. The top is covered in arborite, a plastic laminate. The table is unique in that the back crest rail of the four chairs forms part of the table apron when pushed under the table. The chairs are these great, they are triangular and three legged. This is what really appealed to me. It is so unique. The legs are a stained curly maple and screw into the bottom of the aprons with hanger bolts.
I did a little research and found out that the company that made this table is "The Holabird Company" out of Bryan, Ohio. I also found an add from a 1965 Sears catalog showing the table and chairs.
We are using the table and chairs in the next episode of " The Garage" The table just needs some TLC as with two of the chairs and the other two will get re-upholstered.
What a great find. I love rummaging through places like flea markets
